hey shader-
i just did the intro last saturday. It's a blast! even with the monsoon rains and down right nippy temps. hopefully u will get better conditions. the folks are all very helpful, not the least bit intimidating (figured for sure i'd be the slowest too, but it's really not about that). when u pit out u can pick the far right lane toward the back with the slower riders. that's what i did but as it turned out, i moved up pretty quickly. it will all be explained to u.
just go have fun, live in the moment.

ps - i was so jazzed with the whole track experience, i joined and scheduled a trackday in june as soon as i got home!
