Barber in November

I'm planning on coming down for Barber after Thanksgiving and wanted to ask which hotel is best. Looks like Hampton Inn across from Bass Pro is the closest. Any discount codes?

I called them twice now Jeff but zero luck. They were sympathetic but wouldn't budge on any sort of room rate discount.....

I am going to be at Barber at the same time. What if they offered a group discount?

Brother they are the only game in town at that location. There are a couple of less desirable hotels close and cheap, but the Hampton has a lock with Barber & Bass Pro just across the street....

I can sell a loaf of lumpy green bread boys, but I had zero luck with Hampton management.... try trivago or some other Web service and see if they offer better prices.

Every time I've been to the Hampton they usually offer a discount when you're on site. I believe our rate was $90.00 even for the night after taxes, but that was over a year ago. Now I just sleep at the track.
I do recommend dropping your bikes and stuff at the track on Friday before heading to the hotel. Not too long ago someone had their trailer and three motorcycles stolen from said less desirable hotels in the outlying areas...

Steviegx33 how do you sleep at the track? Do you use a camper, tent or do you sleep in a car/truck. I'm trying to get by on the cheap so I can afford both both days without breaking the bank. Also if I leave my bike at the track do they have a locked area where they store the bikes.

Man I've been out of the area for a few years and drawing a blank as to Barber weather for that weekend...good?

I personally sleep in my trailer at most track days. I have a bed set up in there and actually do pretty well. There are plenty of people who pitch tents or sleep in the back of their vans. It all depends on what your comfort level will be. As far as leaving your bike there, it is absolutely fine to drop your bike and leave to go to a hotel. A lot of people will set up their canopy and leave their bikes and such under the dropped canopy for the night. It is pretty safe, only a few instances over the last 11 years have I seen a problem.

Hey. The big guy radiates a lot of thermal energy.

The track has security patrolling the pit area all night and a guard at the gate. Your bike and gear is safer there than any hotel parking lot. Even if they're locked in your trailer at the hotel.

I used to sleep in a tent, but too much noise pushes me to sleep in my trailer. I've got a little 6x10 enclosed I just throw a blow-up mattress in and run power to at night. it's like a super cheap camper. As far as locked bike area, no they do not. However, as others have said there is security, and I've never had any issues in the past with people stealing anything. Just get acquainted with the people around you and I'm sure you'll be fine.

If you bring bikes in Friday night and don't stay at the track with them make sure and let the folks around your spot know. There is 24/7 Barber security patrolling the paddock area as well. Don't leave a key in any bike and drop your canopy all the way down. Make sure and strap it down too in the event of windy conditions taking your pop up for a ride into the Porsche pit.....that can get expensive real quick. Weather is generally mild the end of November. Might bring a small heater just in case but generally it is dry weather and cool temps. Remember - there are no pets allowed on the property per Barber. Don't get all the way here and discover that Rover can't come in!! And no, you can't chain him to a tree in the museum parking lot while you ride.....

We will be providing the food on Saturday night for all attendees. Not exactly sure what the entire menu will be but right now I'm leaning toward a low country boil of fresh gulf shrimp, Alabama sausage, corn, and potatoes. We will also provide some BBQ pork and cook up some burgers and brats. We could use some great desserts so if you are inclined to do so bring something sweet to share with everyone. This is a holiday weekend too so keep that in mind as you prepare to travel both to and from the event.

Also, and very important, the event registration window at Barber will close promptly at 9pm on Friday and Saturday night. The only way you can get in after 9 is to have someone go to registration before 9pm and let them know you will be coming in after 9. She will take the name(s) and pass the list on to the gate attendant when she leaves the site. Gate is open 24/7 but gate attendant cannot register anyone or take any money - he can only process those that are given to him on the list by registration. If you come in after 9 and are not on the list you will have to either camp in the parking lot (if they let you) or go off site to spend the night. If you camp on site you have to pay a camping fee and if you want power you have to pay for it. Security will go up and down the power hookups and if you are caught using power without paying they will escort you off the property. It's called stealing folks - not a cool thing to do. This is a beautiful facility and well worth the trip and cost to experience an awesome track and an awesome venue with the best track organization ever!!

All right. I'm registered and I'm bringing a bunch of hooligans with me.
I'll bring something for the dinner too. I'm thinking bacon wrapped smokies covered in brown sugar... You know, heart healthy stuff.

Ok. I just want to be a hundred percent sure about this. I have a cargo trailer that I am planning on sleeping in at the track while at Barber. So security will be okay with me doing that. Any fees I should know about. And what desserts do you crazy bikers like?

I usually sleep in my cargo trailer too...budget toy hauler!!! Can't beat it! Used to go the air mattress route, now I just bring the mattress off of the guest bed, lol

I hope to make Barber for my second ever track day. I would like to find someone from south/central Mississippi or maybe from Louisiana that I can pair up with for travel as a responsible buddy in case anything bad happens at the track. Does anyone know of someone from or passing through my area?
