Removing tailgate on Tractor Supply Co. Trailer...?

This trailer is the perfect size for me, but that giant wing on the back kills my mpg. I'm heading on a 1,600 mile trip with it and would like to remove it before hand.

The trailer is from Tractor Supply Co. and looks to have some weird bolt and I was wondering if there was a way to cut an end off and pull the bolt out, or if I had to drill everything. I'd like to have it so I could reattach it if necessary.

Pics... That little nipple on the end is a grease cert. I unscrewed it but it doesn't connect to anything useful. I think I'm fucked.

I don't think so. Each bracket is mirrored so I don't think you could just slide it off without cutting one of the hinges completely off...

those pins might be only press-fit. Have you tried just banging them out with a drift?

The benefit is, of course, that you could replace the pins with bolts when you get back.

I hoped they were only press-fitted, but they are definitely welded.

I should still be able to fit a bolt through there after I cut the pins off.
