The WorldSBK Thread

I can only imagine TR54’s celebrity status at Pirelli.

Although he’s most certainly not the first to ride his front tire deep into the braking zone, I don’t recall anybody that does (has done) it as consistently.

He can really punish a front tire and I’d think Pirelli would be beside themselves with the marketing value.

Watching Race 2 at Donington Park, what really amazes me is TR54’s front brake release; his last 5% is so smooth that he can gently set the rear wheel down. He really is a next-level talent.

Well, I acknowledge Most came and went without any hint of competition for P1 in the SBK class.

I don’t perceive TR54’s getting cocky at all but a 64 point lead can easily vanish. It’s hard not to but we shouldn’t conclude he has the championship wrapped up given there are six rounds left.

But, yeah, TR54’s clearly the epitome of “dominant force”.

I just got around to Misano Race 2 where he pulled that 5 second gap on NB11. TR54 is unbelievably fast. Does he have GP experience? I'm imagining he'll be called as a wild card or a replacement soon if he's not already involved.

TR54 has that special and rare skill that lets him quickly discern the package strong/weak points, manage and monitor them as they change, and lean on them to the max...lap after lap. I doubt that he'll ever go to GP. There will always be a new challenge for him in WSBK, this BMW move shows how strong/smart he and Sofuoglu are as a team. You've likely also noticed that his brain is way ahead of what he's doing at any given time. It looks effortless.

I have friends who are fans of his, but I'll never understand Miller or Crutchlow at this level. They seem to destroy bikes at an alarming rate.

I think the attraction of both has been their candid answers to the press amidst the stale / flat / nothingburger answers from the EU racers.

In addition to what @NothingClever said, I also thing Miller has a bit of “everyman” that is appealing. He gives off a vibe of ‘I’m just like you, just insanely fast on a motorbike…’.

Unfortunately, he has not been able to overcome his issues on multiple brands/bikes. The fact that he could fairly consistently show good pace, and then chuck it down the road, has been frustrating.

I still think he could be valuable to another manufacturer in MotoGP since he brings data/info from a few different bikes. But he’d probably be better off in WSBK. A paycheck with a more “mellow” schedule.

I certainly wish him the best. He’s provided some good entertainment over the years.
