It sounds like you're on the right track (pun intended)! That 600 may be more capable than you think. One more thing to try to get to before you finish the day is have your suspension set to something in the ballpark for your weight. Get to an appropriate sag measurement on each end and check/alter any valving that is adjustable on that model. Any coach should be able to lend a hand. A good starting point is 35mm front rider sag and 30m rear rider sag. One second to compress and two to rebound on each end. You'll learn more about what works for you as you get more seat time, but that simple setup should get you in the ballpark.
