08 r6 exhaust

Posting for a friend, but wants to know if......

He has seen the MJS perfomance header, and it appears to use a stock exhaust header, with out the CAT converter on it..... Just wondering if anyone has tried to cut out the cat themselves and piece the header back together with straight pipe, then add a slip-on?

Any info on this would be great!

I know several guys who have used a mid pipe to connect the stock can (or aftermarket can) to the stock header after cutting out catalytic converter. Fred (Racer23) has that exact set up on an 2006. Here's a link:
