rear master cylinder rebuild ?

I have a 14 bore NISSIN Rear master on the street bike that doesn't self return.
It appears to be the master cylinder and not a seized piston. Stock rearsets were working fine and I just now installed after market rearsets. Stock rearsets have a spring assisted return on the brake lever and that's why they were working ok.

anyone ever experience something like this ? does the brake lever not returning sound like a master cylinder rebuild ?
specifically...spring replacement on the rear master cylinder piston ?

Thanks

Sometimes the piston detaches from the rod. This happened to me recently on an old skool gsxr that I just restored. I found it cheaper ($25) to source a master from eBay and move on rathe than mess with a rebuild

On my vortex rearsets I initially tightened the brake lever/foot peg to tight and the MC would not return after pushing on it. I loosened up the bolt one turn and it worked until I crashed it.
