Vortex Rearsets 600rr07?

I was mounting the brake side rear set and I've run into a problem. The instructions say to use the oem screws to secure the heat shield. This doesn't work because the screw is too long without the stock piece to take up some space.

Just wanted to know if anyone has mounted them up and how they went about it. I'm planning on sticking a few washers in there as a quick fix.
