wiring harness question

I am hoping to purchase race fairings for my triumph daytona in the next few weeks. My question is when you mount the fairings what are you supposed to do with all of the electrical wires used for blinkers, head lights and brake lights. Do they just unplug from the wiring harness somewhere. If you do not unplug them will they cause a short or cause a fuse to blow?

Just unplug the lighting and ziptie the plugs to the closest sub-harness or other permanent item on the bike.

Usually all the lights have plugs somewhere along the harness follow them back , label them as you disconnect to make it easier to re-assemble. The headlamps will be hard wired to the main harness or have a sub-harness w/plug which feeds things like signal horn etc, I recommend just unplug the ones that are obvious ie: rear lamps tag light and zip tie the others out of the way. For peace of mind you can use electrical tape to cover any raw or exposed ends to prevent shorts.
