2018 N2 track day bike prep - Where's everyone at?

It sounds like you're on the right track (pun intended)! That 600 may be more capable than you think. One more thing to try to get to before you finish the day is have your suspension set to something in the ballpark for your weight. Get to an appropriate sag measurement on each end and check/alter any valving that is adjustable on that model. Any coach should be able to lend a hand. A good starting point is 35mm front rider sag and 30m rear rider sag. One second to compress and two to rebound on each end. You'll learn more about what works for you as you get more seat time, but that simple setup should get you in the ballpark.

I think the Fizzer is gonna be great for a while while I learn how to ride on the track... Like Dave Grossman says - Amateurs talk hardware, professionals talk software ;)

It's got plenty of power, plenty of torque that i'll never "need" and it's a tank.

As far as my suspension goes, that's going to be next on the list... I've already maxed out the rear spring pre-load, and the front is not adjustable. I contacted Racetech about what all I needed and the correct rates. I'm looking at about 600.00ish to get me the bike sprung right. So I've gotta save some pennies for that. lol

to add to the suspension situation - I did ask if thickening the oil was going to help which RT advised against, but is this an acceptable "work around" until the correct components can be purchased and installed?

There are a lot of things you can do to fill the gap from now until when you have the "right stuff." As I've said before, suspension that is set up for you and a steel line on the front brakes are most of what any track rider needs. The rest is really just because many of us like tech or like farkles. :) Iv'e ridden many bikes on the track on stock suspension and old or ST tires. It can be done, but you're going to bump into the limits pretty quickly.

Very simplified (smarter people should chime in...) The spring rate and the valving are different things. The spring rate carries the amount of weight. That spring rate can vary a bit via rider preference, but if it is way off, you either not going to get enough movement or your going to have too much and bottom out. Valving controls the ride quality and keeps the rubber on the road. You're going to want both, especially if you are going to pay someone to take them apart anyway.

Putting in thicker oil will slow the damping. Thinner oil will quicken it. Oil won't do anything to affect spring rate. Neither will winding or unwinding a spring. My R6 bikes get 7.5 weight oil in the forks whereas my old 400 gets 20 weight. You will notice the difference, but it won't overcome a spring of the incorrect weight.
