I've got an All Balls set of tapered roller bearings for my 03 R6. It comes with a lower seal/dust cover that looks like it should go under the bearing on the steering stem.
The old bearings did not have a dust cover. The factory manual does not have any pictures of a lower dust cover or seal either.
When I sandwhich the dust seal, bearing and new race, it seems like there is a lot of resistance. I'm tempted to leave it off but trailer my bike on an open trailer and ride in the rain occassionally so I'm wondering if it would be a bad idea to leave the lower bearing exposed like that.
Suggestions? Install the seal or not?
