DCIII cold pressure

That depends on your pace. If your pace is fast enough to put a decent amount of heat in the tire you would start with a lower pressure 27-28 psi, if not higher. What you want to acomplish is a hot pressure of around 30-31, measured asap after coming offf track.

DIABLO CORSA III

FRONT SIZES:

120/65ZR17 (32psi*)
120/70ZR17 (32psi*)

REAR SIZES:

180/55ZR17 (32psi*)
190/50ZR17 (32psi*)
190/55ZR17 (32psi*)

*Tire pressures indicated are cold pressures and are to be used as a baseline.
Pirelli experience has indicated that if a rider checks HOT (just off the track) pres-
sures and maintains them at 34.5psi to 36psi for both the front and rear tire they
will keep the tires in the “sweet spot” of the temperature range and give maximum
performance.

hmmm. I'm sure ambient temperatures play a part, and it's generally hotter down south, but in the mid-atlantic region, I've heard to run cold pressures of around 28-29 front and 27-28 rear in the Diablo Corsa IIIs, aiming for hot pressures of 30-31. I've tried both the lower pressures I just mentioned and ones I'd normally run in those types of tires (Pilot Powers, Diablo Corsas, Bridgestone BT016) of 31 front 30 rear cold (about 34-36 hot), and honestly, both seemed to work fine.
Maybe I'm just not good enough to notice the difference

I got a rear flipped and forgot to check the pressure after and i ran the whole day with a pressure of 42psi, and like Judy said i didn't feel a difference, whats up with that?????

It just means that you aren't getting on the gas early enough. It's called being slow, I've learned to live with it, can you? :D

Oh crap - Emerson getting back on the gas sooner? It's all I can do to keep him from gapping me too bad now! ;)

I was running on DC III's for the second time; first time at road america. I started with the 32/32 per the Pirelli sheet. I only increased my temp by 1-1.5 degrees (lap time less than 2:50). My rear looked like it was getting some cold tearing. I asked a group of CR's who looked at me like I was an alien when I mentioned the 32/32 "those are street pressures.....way too high.....pirelli would never say that....." So they had me lower them to a cold 32 front/ 30 rear. Didn't feel the difference and the tire wear didn't change. But the rear pressure did go up by almost 3 degrees.

The tire guy said it looked like I was on too much gas exiting the corners. The tearing also happens to be at the soft/hard transition of the dual compound.

any opinions? then again, how do you decide who's opinion is right?

I recommend a hot pressure in the area of 30-31 front 31-33 rear. I suggest a cold start point around 26F 27R. I run the DC3 a lil on the low side and have had favorable results. You will always hear opinions and different suggestion. I take everything as a baseline starting point and adjust from there.

What is posted on my tire fliers is ------ DCIII 33psi HOT ,,,front and rear

As most of you know, or should know, there is a rang of 1 to 4 psi , up or down depending on how you like your tires.

Chris,,

YOU WIN!!!!!

That info was what the Pirelli Tire Engineers gave me at the beginning .
I have changed things up a bit and made things more beginner friendly.
I now have HOT psi only listed on a tire info sheet.

I am happy to send you a flier. Email me.

Thanks for your help .

Derek Leslie.

Derek,

I didn't point that out to "win". It's the only solid info I could recall seeing in print from someone of authoritah.

I had them at 33psi HOT today and my rear was tearing like crazy ... I actually raised it up 1.5 psi hot and it held just as good with no tearing ... I vary depending on the track and conditions, anywhere from 32-35 hot psi.

I'm just a street guy and no racer but I'm running in the "A" Group at Pacific Raceways and I just started dipping into the 1:37's on DCIII's my last time down here, about a month ago.

I run 32 front and 33 rear when measured cold and haven't had any issues with them however I think that they are a pretty soft carcass tire as they certainly move around a lot IMO - never giving away completely but lot's of squirming that's for sure.

A couple CR's say that for that pace and faster I should switch to the Pro's or Dragon's and I think I'll make the switch after my next track day when they'll be pretty much done anyway.

For what it's worth, my rear has a 2" wide "tear" strip on the left side and both sides show visible lines where the 2 different compounds are joined.
