Health insurance

I searched and found a lot of threads about bike insurance but none about health insurance. If i missed something please link me.

Right now my I cannot get insurance through my job. I have some medical coverage through my bike insurance. I have felt comfortable with this for my first couple track days this year. But I know next year I'll be hitting the track a bit harder (hopefully not literally) and i want more coverage. I know it will vary from state to state, but instead of calling every company I've heard of and getting them to send me the fine print I thought I'd ask here. What health care providers will cover track days?

During your search for health insurance, when you make inquiries, do not use the words "motorcycle" or "race track." They're big red flags and you'll either get screwed on rates or refused coverage.

Look at what your copay/covered costs are for ER visits, ambulance transport, yearly maximum out-of-pocket, and whether or not specialist referrals are required. I'm sure there's other aspects to look at, but those come to mind at the moment.

I'm a little confused, if your searching for medical insurance coverage, I don't think I wanna dupe the insurance company by not mentioning motorcycle or track event.

I wanna be open and honest when searching so if the time should ever come that I need medical coverage due to a track incident, I'm covered! Medical bills accumulate FAST

I think it would truly SUCK to find out that I'm not covered because the insurance company did not cover me at a closed course motorcycle event because I intentionally witheld some info.

I don't want any misunderstandings.

My medical covers me but my company self insures a a big portion of it. Still you have to check the fine print. Also look into Aflac for transport coverage our policy covers for 100% transport. IE The box or the bird is covered which is a big expense in a bad one.

Just a word of warning: Do NOT participate in track days without health insurance. An incident will bankrupt you quickly. It's not worth it.

As far as getting coverage goes, be honest about your participation in "riders' schools" which is what NESBA trackdays are considered to be.

Good call Brian carriers will use you dishonesty about activities to deny cover if they can better to be up front about what you do and make sure. A good agent will work with you to get you coverage

make sure you have transport. Pretty expensive just to get you to a proper facility some time.

Great to see you posting up more B.

Track days are riding instruction days not race days. My Humana health insurance does not exclude trackdays. 85 bucks per month with 2500 deductible in a health savings account. That is what I got.

Thanks for starting this thread, information about this topic is invaluable!
All information about this topic is helpful, especially for new track day riders like me that might not know much about insurance coverage or understanding the fine print etc.

If one already has health insurance for family, and would like to get a seperate one just for the track, is that possible?

Havent got around to calling people yet, but from looking at plans online Humana seems to be the best for me so far. They have a few decent plans in the $50 range, which is what i was looking for.
