They are still too new. There were 3 guys at the Blackhawk CCS races that had them including me.

Problem is, how do you prove that they prevented a fatality or injury? It will take some time to come up with hard evidence.

I can tell you that the MLV vest I have is very well built and is not too intrusive on the bike. If I test it, I will be sure to report the results on this site.

alocker, maybe it's the same situation when you crash with a $800 helmet. Would you have the same protection from a $200 one?

Without any real testing that's expensive, which is never going to happen on a product that sells for a few hundred dollars to only a handful of people you are never going to truly prove its effectiveness. All we have left is speculation after an accident, "I didn't get hurt or didn't get hurt as bad so it must have worked". That can be said for most of our safety equipment.

If the OP wants I suppose I could launch myself in a turn in the same exact spot with (then after I heal) without the vest and report back with empirical data on a nice chart with graphs of crushed bones, pain, bruises etc..

The air bags are costing thousands of dollars extra to be built into a suit. MotoGP riders have been testing it and are wearing it, which has been in the works for years now, so it hopefully does prove effective. With that said, it didn't look like it worked or helped Pedrosa recently :(

I was one of the racers wearing an Air Vest. It is perfectly comfortable on the bike. I've never tested it, but it is nice for peace of mind. Like any safety equipment, there are no guarantees that it will prevent every injury every time, but it sure could go a long way towards reducing them. I sure have fun doing this, and I want to keep my body in shape. Someday I might be darn glad I was wearing it.

I bought one after I fractured my neck in three places last year. I had looked into them several years ago and I wish I would have bought one then. I'm sure it would have helped me and three months in a rigid neck brace sucked.

I ordered one today and it has already been shipped. Very fast service!

I'll post some impressions after I get it.

I think we spend money in so many things and when it's related to our health, sometimes we slack. If it saves me a bit, the investment is already paid off.

Which model was that price quoted for?

Can the vests be worn with a suit with a hump? Looking at the pictures I think it might be a problem.
