How to remove 2008 R6 rear fender?

Hello all,

Does anyone know how to remove the rear fender from a 2008 R6? On the 2006 and 2007, in the underneath the rear seat compartment, Yamaha left a cut out in the plastic that covers the 4 bolts that hold on the fender so they are easily accessible with a socket, but for some reason there is no cut out in the plastic on the 2008 :banghead:. I can lift up the plastic that covers the bolts but not nearly enough to get any tool on to the bolts. I checked if I could remove that plastic but its a big piece that goes underneath all of the stuff under the front seat so that is not a realistic possibility. Thank you to anyone that can help!

I had to dismantle the whole tail section to get mine off. It was a pain.

I took a dremel tool and cut out a square piece of plastic above the bolts that was large enough to get to the bolts. Easy access now.

Thank you guys for the info. I ended up drilling 4 holes in the plastic big enough to fit a socket in there and on to the bolts.

... Design points deducted on that one Yamaha.
