She's Baaaack! JC has had some "work" done over the season and we are all set to play on the new and improved version.

We will be riding the track counter clockwise. Yes, you read that correctly. Counter clockwise. We finally get another track that we can use the left side of our tires so save your take-offs. Because of this and the new extended section, we will set up a track walk both Saturday and Sunday morning at 7:30am. Tech and registration will open as usual at 7am and go until 8am. However, if you would like a sneak peak at the new layout, have your bike tech'ed by 7:15 and join us at pit out by 7:30. We will do a brisk walk of the new section as well as get a look at what we will be seeing running the track "backwards". We need to make this walk quick so we can be off track by 8am and be ready for the Riders Meeting at 8:15.

Saturday Schedule
7:00 Tech Inspection / Registration open
7:30 Track Walk begins (complete tech/reg by 7:15)
8:00 Tech Inspection / Registration closes / Track Walk ends
8:15 Riders Meeting
9:00 Track is Hot
12:00 Lunch
1:00 Track is Hot
5:00 Track is Cold Pits Heat up!

Cookout Saturday Night

I will be arriving Saturday afternoon for Sunday. Looking forward to the extra activities because I'm bringing a coworker "Andreas" with me for his very first track day! I know for sure he will be hooked on N2's track days!

How did they come to the decision to run counter clockwise? I've always heard, going back to when Dutch was running the days, that there wasn't enough runoff that direction. What's changed now?

The back straight is going to be I would guess 5th gear vs. 4th at the brake point. The front straight enters the up hill off camber turn with very little runoff as well.

Is the new section not safe clockwise?

Not making lite of your post - believe me, I'm a huge safety nut - just like I hear about NYST - I feel Jeff is a a 70-80% track that's great for working on skills. . .probably the most dangerous turn at the entire Summit complex is 4 on Main (still love that track but talk about no run off, especially for a triple digit turn:eek: - I just throw away that turn - like 4 at Lightning - if I see anything sketchy at Jeff in CCW, I'll just throw those away and work on the rest of the track:). The way I look at it - no way it can be worse than VIR south or RA - I almost had to start going back to church after riding those tracks :D

Don't forget to bring a genny!!!!!!!!!

I'm just curious why N2 wants to run it counter clockwise when Nesba never would.... It makes zero sense to me unless the new section is not safe clockwise. I would like to know if there is a reason other than we get to wear the other side of our tires.

I have no idea, but waaaaay back in the day, the club I rode with tried it out once, and the directors of that club felt the old config was safer CCW. So that's how we ran it, even though everyone else was running CW. I have no idea, I went once, like 15 years ago. LOL.

Quick question: Does anyone know if the new JC layout allows more viewing areas for spectators?

I'm debating on bringing along a few non-riders (from school age to adult age) but don't want them to get bored watching us as we go counter-clockwise. Telling them to go the casino won't fly either.

I recall only the area by pit in/out was accessible for viewing (at turn 1 when running JC in a clockwise pattern). That wasn't half-bad as spectators could see the bike screaming towards them, down the straight, into turn 1 (with passing "action" thrown in the mix). Assuming only the same viewing area exists for spectators, spectators will see less "action" as we come off of a somewhat slow corner and accelerate away from them.

Please let me know as their boredom might shorten my day. I can't have that!

You would be correct that the only viewing area is still from the fence in the paddock. JC is definitely not the best spectator track by far and the "new" section cannot be seen by spectators at all. (My friends and family refuse to come watch when we are there because they can't see anything)

Hope this helps with your decision
