From "I" group. First time there, first couple of sessions were painful as I tried to learn the track! Got a couple tows from the CR's and helped me clean up my lines quite a bit. Couldn't break the :24 mark, but all in all, not bad for my very first time there (I think). Will add links as I upload them.

What resolution do you use? What camera? Editing software?

GoPro2 running the 9xx by whatever resolution. I know, fancy terms and all. LOL The GoPro 2 will record 1080, but only at 30FPS. Around 25FPS is where the eye can start to see the flickers of the frame. I record at the quality level one below it, as it records at 48FPS, which makes it smooth if I want to edit the videos and put slow motion on it without having it look choppy. With these...I've been super lazy. I cut out the sitting around and the parts after pitting in, and just upload it.

Using Win8 [Which I hate] editing with CyberLink Power Director 11 [Which I like, but has a steep learning curve for newbies].

I run a GPR v1 steering damper, which has a nice flat surface for the GoPro mount to stick on. The v4's have the rotary knob and you can't mount the go pro there. I had the steering damper before the GoPro, got lucky I guess. :)

I caught you when I had my camera mounted facing the rearward making a nice move getting through slow traffic (namely me...) in turn one I think it was the 5th or 6th session. Sliced through us like a knife through hot butter. :)

You made your brief appearance at around 1:50 mark.

I also have windows 8 and I hate it as well. And my HP comes with the Cyberlink Power Director 10, which I haven't used yet. I'm going to have to check it out then your videos look good. I have mounted my GoPro 3 on the front, but it gets pretty bumpy up there it seems. Thanks for the info!

moving pretty good out there! next time you are at summit grab one of the CRs and have them show take you thru the carousel (t6 area) ...there is a lot of time to make up there and will make a huge difference for your laps :D

I never got comfortable on that section the entire day, and the video shows it. I'm also too slow for my stock gearing I'm running. Pick up the pace much faster, and it's almost too twitchy to take that section in 2nd gear. At my pace, doing it in 3rd gear has the bike bogging down, and I come out of the corner at a snails pace. I need to be able rocket out of the corners so I can pass those big bikes. :) I got a tow-around by a CR and he helped shed some light there, but I'm just a damn slow learner. :D Sorry I forgot his name. I'm now officially in the MA region after moving...and I don't know any of the CRs here. Guess that just means I have to do more track days so I can learn all the names. :haha:

I look at my B group videos from when I first started this track day shindig last year, and it looks like I increased my speed 10 fold. However, every time I get home and watch the videos on the computer, all I can see are the tons of places I'm wasting time...everywhere. Breaking into the teens wouldn't be impossible at all on Summit if I had some half assed riding skills.

Well I am not sure if Trekuhl was talking to you or me on the carousel bit, but you certainly need to be up in 3rd gear before you come through turn 9 if possible. I tried shifting between 8 and 9 my first time there, but it didn't work out. If you have GP shift and a quick-shifter it is probably a lot easier to shift there. I gave up and changed the gearing to -1 on the front and stock rear for my second time there. That seems perfect on my R1 anyway. I can carry 3rd through turn 1, as well as the turn 5 to turn 9 section and I am fairly close to the power peak in 6th when I hit the brakes for turn 1. Front sprockets are usually pretty cheap too and it was a small change in wheelbase (stock chain length works fine). Probably changed my geometry a bit too, but the handling seems fine if not a tiny bit improved.

As far as the carousel goes for me, I think I could get on the gas a little more coming out of 5 to use the whole track. That would have me enter the carousel a bit more on track right before swinging out so I can cut back in to be on the right line through 8 and 9.

Pretty good riding for your first time there, although I am far from an expert since it was only my third day at Summit Main. Hopefully you can come back when the day is a little less crowded.

Did you have Michael J Fox holding your GoPro for you or what?! :D

My camera clip to front mount connection is a little loose. The camera won't come out, as I have pushed and pulled on it until the bodywork was bending. It just rattles around because the clips don't grab firmly. I forgot to shove a piece of paper in there to tighten it up this time. I am going to see about coming up with a permanent solution that maybe adds a bit of security as well.

I'm assuming it's a GoPro? If it is, just put a piece of electrical tape on the mount. It makes a world of difference when you go to slide on the camera mount.

I don't know what the guy is riding at the 10:20 mark (Triumph triple???) but man he wasn't in a hurry on the straight. I couldn't find where he was pitted at, so if he reads this, sorry about the relative close pass on you. I was NOT expecting anyone to be taking their time on the straight, and I came up on you in a hurry.

You can see my view soon after the 10:20 mark. Too bad we weren't in A group, would have made for a slick inside pass. :D
