NJMSP Under Fire

If you frequent NJMSP and want to support the facility please take a look at the following website: http://trackracket.org and send them an email stating you support the track. Bunch of local Millville residents trying to cause problems for the track over noise, they just filed an order against the track on December 23rd to try and stop the motocross plans NJMSP has applied for with the town.

Please pass this around to any other track supporters, it already has been posted on several offroad forums.

There is always somebody out there that tries to spoil the fun. That website mentions property values being lowered, noise levels and hints at the destruction of the local area. But I wouldn't get too worked up about it. It's hard to complain about property values being lowered by the track at a time when the foreclosure rate at record highs. Track noise is surely bothersome to folks that don't enjoy the sounds of race motors but I think they will have a hard time arguing that point when there is an airport right next to the racetrack. Also, the people that go to the track pay money, which is used maintain the track and the area, using a lot of local folks to do it. That money then goes back into that area, and I would guess it helps out the local economy quite a bit. I'm thinking that we shouldn't have to worry too much.

Wait a second. I'm not sure its true - but someone told me that NJMP was once a huge contaminated Superfund Site due to the manufacture of WWII aircraft (hence the names Thunderbolt and Lightning). It obviously has been cleaned up and restored to a beneficial use that supports the community. If they put in a sprint car oval that ran races up until 10 or 11 PM, I might sympathize.

As far as the noise levels go there is a simple solutions that is used at many tracks in Europe. Noise testing is condutucted in "Tech" and bikes must have silenced exhausts for certain events. It is simple.

But guess what? We are not Europe, and until legislation is passed to lower noise levels, we can keep doing this and you cannot make all people happy all of the time.

I wonder, did these people ever complain with the Airport?

Speaking of "Under Fire"...

Wow those bastards would REALLY not like to live ANYWHERE near my house. I'm sure the sound from rifle fire travels much further than our motorcycles....

"ooooh my poor wittle ears..."

We get stuff like this at our private gun club all the time. So far haven't have to limit shooting hours or days.

:agree: I think we should be ok...It's a win win situation for the community and riders...

Received this letter late, first meeting is tonight and I hope they have a good turn out from the motorsports community.

"Important NJ Motor sports mx track proposal:

Both the Tuesday Jan 5 and Jan 19 city commission meetings will be extremely important.
You will not need to go to the Jan 11 planning board meeting since there will have to be a couple council meetings first.

The Jan 5th meeting needs to be a major “public statement” in terms of seeing a heavy turnout of track supporters and being seen as such by all the supporters wearing their “colors” so they are easily identifiable as supporters, as otherwise the public officials won’t know who is who.

If Tri County folks go to the microphone, they will need to highlight the fact that we are regulated by strict AMA sound regulations and that AMA is very concerned about noise issues. Also, we must stick to all the positive and financial benefits of having a legal MX facility for racing and daily practicing. We need to talk about how much $$ gets spent at the track and in the community from the racing families, and how so many New Jerseyans leave the state and spend all that $$ in other states.

The public will be heard at the end of the meeting during the public comment period, so it will be important that we hang in there through the “other” city business.

**Also try to remember that direct quotes from environmental opponents of riding parks like the one in Egg Harbor Twsp, Monroe Twsp (Collings Lakes) and every other riding park proposal, even the closing of Chatsworth, have all cited the fact that NJ Motor Sports has a proposed track (of course they called it a riding park) at their facility, that this will be an answer to our riding problems. So you should expect to see several enviro groups here supporting this proposal, right? I’ve heard Jane Galleto of Citizens United talk about this herself when talking about the new legislation that covers new fines, fees and riding parks.

We need to pack the place on the 5th. Riders should get there about 6. You should be looking for a seat by 6:15, and the meeting starts 6:30. Outside of our local community I’m not sure how many people know about this, I didn’t have a chance to put something up on the east coast site and I don’t know where the mx community has a bulletin board, so whether you like mx or not, riding is riding- come out anyway.

The image and numbers we project at these meetings has a significant impact, so please call up buddies, members or friends who won’t see this email to tag along with you.

The locals here in Concord, NC did a similar thing to Bruton Smith when he was working on installing the new drag strip at his race complex. The town council stupidly tried to block it. As soon as Bruton told them he was moving the entire track, nascar and all, to another county, the were falling all over themselves trying to reverse there position. it only cost them about 80 million in concessions to keep the revenue in the county.

I hope the track owners have the financial clout to shut the locals up!

Mike this is good information!! I'll pass it on to as many people I know, to other clubs, etc. I won't be able to support the meeting held tonight due to the short notice, but I will support the riders. Thanks

This could be very serious. This is exactly how Arizona Motorsports Park was shut down. They have been in court since 2004 over it. A great track is just sitting idle in the sun because a handful of retirees complained about the noise. And that track is located at the end of the runway for the largest F-16 training facility the Air Force runs in the U.S.!

Don't take this lightly.

Look this is really pissing me the hell off. now i havent been on the forums in a few months been catching up with stuff around my house since my last track session. so i come home from work today and i go onto my face book and a friend of mine posts on my wall this bs track racket website. i started reading and it got me so angry, then i came onto here and seen if everyone has heard of it and it sure has. it just amazes me that theses retarted people didnt think of this when they were in the process of building the complex. let alone when there are big sanxioned events that people come and spend money on motels, food, gas etc wich is boosting there economy and providing people with jobs and bringing money into the town. i live 25 minutes away from njmp, these people need to learn how to just deal with it. would they like us streetracing around their town instead? i dunno maybe im just over reacting. i just dont get why people gotta be such crybabies about noise. its not like it goes on every single damm day or at nightime. and every youtube video i see on that stupid trackracket site were loud cars. so if anything maybe some mufflers should be used? ... well thats my vent for the evening. hopefully nothing happens about it. other than that how is everyone doing? hope everyone had a good holiday/new year!
