Painting front and tail for race numbers?

I'm prepping my bike for WERA (which now requires 6" numbers per their recent rule changes) and I need to change my front and tail for yellow background vice white. I have a second set of bodywork I'm going to have repainted and I'll get a proper job done then, so this (hopefully) is just a temp fix for the body that's on the bike. A potential complication is the previous owner had a wrap applied so some of the area I would paint has the wrap (meaning paint over the wrap or remove a portion of the wrap). I was thinking I could just tape off a suitable size space on each side of the tail and on the front and then spray paint the yellow background; however, I'm looking for recommendations if you know a better way, have a suggested paint type, etc. Thanks!

You could just call Chris Kruzel and get number plate decals if painting is going to be a pain with the wrap.

What they said, just use vinyl plates. That's what I did. If you ever go expert or decide to stop racing and you want to go back to white you can just peel them off.
