Absolutely not, get it warm and run it in hard as you want to. rpm's,high ones promote ring seal and that in turn promotes compression and less,a lot less blow by. just make sure the clutch cover is warm to the touch before flogging. Taking it easy is a big mistake,and ive run more than a few engines in too:wow:
If you braking it on the street, change the oil & filter (keep your receipt, for warranty) after 200-300 miles of hard riding, then when you get your 600 miles service. If you braking it at the track, do all 3 morning sessions then at lunch change you oil & filter, then at the 600 miles service.
I broke in mine at the track and did the 3 sessions then the oil & filter change... I stay 2-3000 rpm's under the red line
+2 to above. I took my ZX6 from the showroom floor directly to the track. After reading the article below, I had no worries. Even shows pictures to back up the claims. (Like Chuck said regarding ring sealing). It's kinda busy with some ads, but great info.
