Some of it is just the region or maybe it's in the water. I remember once being in a restaurant up that way and the better half was having a conversation with the owner. The problem from my POV (laid back Californian) it wasn't a conversation, it was an argument, and I was ready to deck the guy!

I learned a lot that day. So many of the annoying qualities of my better half weren't her qualities at all, they were typical jersey things. Was sort of shocked honestly.

I know what you mean, my wife is Italian and her family is from the main land. When they get together it sounds like the Jerry Springer show but they are saying grace before dinner.
