Newbie in Richmond VA

Getting geared up for the 2018 season, bought one of my friend’s race bikes (‘12 Ducati 848) and I’m waiting on a vanson suit that I sent my measurements in for. I’m getting back to the sport after a 12 year hiatus so I’ll definitely be in the slow lane.

Anybody know where/with whom I can get my suspension set up around Richmond? My friend is 175 in full gear and I’m 220 buck naked.

Welcome! I am a BIG Vanson fan and own a ton of their gear. I can't help you on the Richmond side, but I mail all of my suspension stuff to Thermosman in GA. I look forward riding with you.

Welcome! Another Vanson fan here, too. Can't help with suspension, I use Markbilt in NJ, he's located near NJMP

Mike from MDM (Metric Deval Moto) comes to most of our NE events and does a great job with suspension. He will be at more of our events in 2018.

Mark from Markbuilt local to NJMP. You can check with him on his availability to be at one of our events.

Huey with Marietta Motorsports in Atlanta is also great. He just hosted a suspension seminar at the Barber event this past weekend. It was awesome.

Welcome!

In addition to the others, there is also Jon Tyus, CTR Performance, in TN. I ship all my suspension to him. He has done my R6, GSX-R750s and my R1. Very very good, a nice guy, and easy to work with (and reliable!)

I've been talking to him a lot lately, awesome guy and is a straight up super nerd. Gonna have him do K-Techs or ohlins front and back and the geometry changes once I get more track time on the new spaceship.

There are obviously a number of good suspension guys out there, but Jon has been awesome for me. When I call, he usually picks up the phone. If he's busy and I leave a message, he calls back. He will spend time on the phone working with you whether you're a Novice or a MotoAmerica podium guy. He turns out great product, and he's very responsive. Last week he turned around a refresh on both front forks and rear shock in 3 days. I dropped them off at UPS on Saturday, he got them on Tuesday, and they were delivered to my door completed today. Obviously, timing often depends on when in the season, but still - that's service. Good service deserves recognition.

Yeah he's been great, he's even researched offset triple and rear linkage/pivot brands for me and found out the baseline settings for geometry to get my S1K dialed in. It's an uncommon track bike so I really appreciate his help. Thanks for referring me to him. I'm hoping to have everything sorted out by him early in the season and trust he'll be able to knock it out for me.
