I am pretty sure I have a brake controller at home. Don't buy that just yet, because I will give you one hell of a deal on it. I bought the new truck and the brake controller was included in the options of the truck. I will get back to you tonight with the model I have.

And Tekonsha products are all good. I am pretty sure mine is not Tekonsha, but it worked flawlessly when I had it hooked up to my '04 Ram 1500.

What kind of trailer is that? I’m thinking about buying an all aluminum trailer 7x16 or 7x18 from R&R in Three Rivers, MI.

It is a lightning trailer. It is only 1700 lbs, with a 7000 lb rating.

I would be fairly surprised if your actual trailer only weighs 1700lb, since they list the standard trailer curb weight for the 7x16 at 1750lb before you add any options or packages if I am reading the site right. Don't get me wrong it is still a very light trailer for the size and it looks very nice. Just take the brochure weight with a grain of salt, particularly if you added any options like a ramp door or extra height.

For instance my 6x12 v-nose single axle steel brochure weight was listed at around 1275 lb, but mine arrived weighing 1674 lb. Upgrades were 5200lb axle with brakes, 6" extra height, ramp door with flap, electric package (including panel, outlets, light and finished ceiling), 16' of recessed e-track, rubber coin mat on floor, ramp and flap. It all adds up. Now that I have added a bunch of other stuff, I am sure it weighs considerably more now even when empty. Other stuff still attached to the trailer now when "empty" I am sure have it over 1800 lb: 2 Pit Bull TRS mount plates, 2 Pit Bull stand hangers, 2 Pit Posse (PP) stand hangers, 8 tie down points, a PP hanging cabinet, two large PP cord hangers, and a PP tie down hanger. Only regret is not getting the tie down points factory installed.

I was simply going by the VIN sticer which says 1758....sure maybe its a bit heavier, but the starting weight of a steel one of the same size is 2300...so for apples to apples, starting weights for both are pretty different given the size of the trailer........I am just pumped to not sleep in a tent anymore....
