Wow. You know.... I know people are unhappy. I'm not happy. But Fred has donated every summer weekend for like 11 years to this club! I know for a fact, that he has PUT HIS PERSONAL MONEY INTO THIS CLUB TO HELP! Fred and the rest of us staff are just so friggin' loaded that we love spending our personal money on gas, travel, food, riding in the rain, snow, hail whatever.
Riding when everyone wants to go home. Skipping family functions to ensure events are staffed. Committing to going to nearly every darn event so our members get consistent assistance and a welcome smiling face at events. Getting up at 6:30 on Saturday and Sunday! No matter how friggin' tired you are from riding on the day before. Trust me, I'm not a morning person. Spending all our vacation days to staff the weekeday events. Twice as much bike maintenance. NOW YOUR GOING TO POSSIBLY ACCUSE THIS HARD WORKING DEDICATED STAFF THAT I CALL MY FAMILY! The first time I car pooled with Wink and Hix, it was clear how dedicated these people are to making sure events happen for all of you. I never saw them except at dinner. They're always working! Don't get me wrong, we get free track time.
Big whoopty doo!!!! If this is the general feeling of members, please let me know so I can sell my bikes and gear. Thanks for making some of the hardest working people and myself feel like crap! Building relationships with vendors and companies. Gathering give away's for of season gatherings and the Chili Cook Off. I just sit around all day and my cell phone is free. So hey, I had nothing better to do right. Not For Profit? I'm sick of people hiding behind that as a defense for nothing to complain about Nesba. If Nesba was for profit would that have changed anything NO.
To my staff: (I call you mine because I'm a group captain haha. So you were mine!)
I'm so proud that I'm given the opportunity to wear that silly orange shirt. IT MEANT SO MUCH TO ME! When it was offered to me, I tried to return it after my first day because I thought I was just helping out for the day. To have it bestowed upon me was an honor! One that unfortunately many members will not understand or experience. I"M VERY LUCKY to have been a part of it. As a group captain, I LOVE MY STAFF. I KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE GIVEN. I KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE LOST. We've stopped on our way home to visit each other in the hospital on our way home after the bad days. Because YES, this gets a little dangerous some times. We've become friends and we talk regularly all year long away from the track. Many of you come by my home and are welcomed in. Hell Jordan is at my house when I'm not sometimes! Together over the years you've come to my need and helped more then once when I was down and out for so many reasons. We've shared smiles, laughter and some great times and stories. On more then one occasion I've been given a hug by my staff when it was needed. We've shared tears in the hard times as well. I'm not so proud that I can't say it. I've had complete strangers make gestures of kindness to me just because I wore that stupid shirt. With it came great responsibility.
One of my favorite memories of dedication of what these people mean and stand for. We're at Putnam and had a crash that spilled oil on the track. It then started to rain. I asked for volunteers of staff to come out and test the track with me. Kim, Nolan, Me, Dave Cole and one other individual who's name escapes me now. They came and volunteered. We told Kim she didn't need to go. She looked me straight in the face and said "I'm going! If you expect members to ride out there, Then I'm not sitting this out. The crap duty comes with the good duty." Some of us were still on slicks! We went out, the first lap slow to sight it. The next lap at speed. If I or the rider ahead of each person went down, everyone else was to bail off track and stay safe. We ALL ran the 2 laps. It was good, grip was fine, no one slid even a little and we led our group out.
THESE ARE THE TYPE OF INDIVIDUALS THAT MAKE ME PROUD TO WEAR THAT STUPID SHIRT! THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING MY PEERS, SUPPORTERS AND FAMILY WHEN I NEEDED YOU. I'D HAVE QUIT MULTIPLE TIMES IF NOT FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT. I TRULY LOVE YOU ALL AND REGION OR NOT WE ARE ALL STILL TRACK RIDERS AND SOME FUCKIN' AWESOME PEOPLE AT HEART. A small group of people hand picked and usually home grown from our own ranks. Nothing anyone posts, insinuates or infers will ever change that in my mind.
